Protecting the region

There are about 180 Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) members in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. The RCMP act as both a municipal and provincial police service in the community.

The World Health Organization has designated Wood Buffalo as a safe community. To date, only six communities in Canada have achieved this international recognition.
