Alberta Environment and Water

Alberta Environment is a partner in protecting and enhancing Alberta's natural environment, to ensure the continued enjoyment of a clean and healthy environment by all. The department has staff in more than 120 communities throughout Alberta.

Alberta Sustainable Resources Development

Alberta Sustainable Resource Development, through its Oil Sands Branch, manages departmental participation in Environmental Impact Assessments and coordinates approvals processes in accordance with the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act.

Alberta Infrastructure

The Oil Sands Sustainable Development Secretariat, under Infrastructure, collaborates with ministries, industry, communities and stakeholders to address the social, infrastructure, environmental and economic impacts of oil sands development. It acts as a main point of contact for inquiries from the public, industry and stakeholders on the government’s plan for managing growth in the oil sands.
